True Worship of the New Covenant.

November 7, 2009

John 4: 23,
“But {the} hour is coming and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for also the Father seeks such as His worshippers”

Lets breakdown this Verse; “But the hour is coming” what does that mean, First of all when somebody says something is coming it means that particular thing is not yet come but it is still coming, that means this hour was not yet come and Jesus continues to say “and now is” some people might think that Jesus was contradicting things here because He said before it is coming and He continues to say that and now is. The answer is that Jesus was talking of the worship of the new covenant which was going to come about because of the Death of Jesus, that means the hour when Jesus was going to be Crucified and establish the new covenant was still coming, and the fact that Jesus included “and now is” it was the fact that His death was at hand or very close.
Jesus continued to say “when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth” that means these true worshippers were going to be revealed after the death of Christ when they were expected to worship the father in spirit and truth because new covenant is all about the government of the Holy Spirit over our lives in everything not in some things. How Holy Spirit governs us? By putting our faith in the power of God (Christ Crucified) or the Finished work of Christ.
Here in this verse these true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and truth, not with their might, power, abilities, but the Spirit of God should be the one who is controlling them to worship.

2 Sam 6:14
“And David danced before the LORD with all his might”

Here in this verse the Bible says “David danced before the Lord”, we should underline before the Lord not in the Lord. The reason why David danced before the Lord, because of the fact that he knew nothing about the Holy Spirit, so He was not controlled by the Spirit of God but he was using his talent, skills, gift to praise and worship God and the Bible continues to say “with all his might” that means the was no other way he might use to dance before the Lord. So according to the old covenant we dance before the Lord not in the Lord and we dance with all our might, but according to the new covenant we dance in the lord not before the lord and we are lead by the Spirit of God not with all our might. Zechariah once prophesied about the new covenant when he said “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit” Zechariah 4:4

The Bible continues in John 4: 23 to say “for the Father seeks such as His worshippers” in other words God is seeking worshippers who will worship Him being controlled by the Spirit of God, people who will dance in the lord, that means the Holy Spirit is the one who is leading them to dance not focussing on other people, looking how they dance and imitate them, that’s not it.
As the Church of God we should reach to a point where we die and Holy Spirit live in us
NB: we should be lead by the Spirit of God in everything.
God is seeking such to worship Him.
